Based in Carmel, just two miles from Holywell, Celyn Villa was built around 1855 and has been the Vicarage (Manse) to the local chapel and the village post office. Its main claim to fame is that the aunt of Emlyn Williams (Welsh dramatist and actor 1905-1987) ran the Post Office here during the 1930’s and it is said that he was a regular visitor.
All our comfortable bedrooms are presented as doubles but have the flexibility to be booked for single, double or twin occupancy. All have sea views and are tastefully decorated and furnished to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Located in a quiet village in North East Wales but with easy access to the A55, Celyn Villa is a great base for exploring North Wales including historic Conwy, Llandudno and Snowdonia, sunny Prestatyn as well as medieval Chester, historic Liverpool or why not visit many of the attractions in Flintshire .
Holywell is famous for St Winefriedes Well where pilgrims have been visiting since the 7th century and we are also close to Pantasaph Friary. A great overnight stop if you are walking the Wales Coastal Path. or travelling to Ireland by ferry. The market town of Mold is close by as is Flint which is just two and half hours by train to London.
The ‘Celyn Breakfast’ is prepared using locally sourced ingredients where possible including lovely freshly laid eggs and gold medal winning Welsh sausages. We also offer lighter, vegetarian and restricted diet options if required. Home cooked evening meals and packed lunches also available, or why not visits one of several pubs offering good food locally.
