Ramblers Rest is perfect for a break in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. Grade II listed, this self catering cottage nestles in the oldest street in Crickhowell, and is only 2 minutes walk from the River Usk, famous for its excellent fishing and wildlife. Recently refurbished throughout, the cottage is centrally heated and offers well appointed  accommodation, but retains the charm and peaceful atmosphere of its mid-1800’s origin. Whether you are walkers, anglers, outdoor pursuits enthusiasts, nature lovers, or just want to enjoy a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, Ramblers Rest is the ideal starting point.

  • Walking – the Brecon Beacons National Park is prime walking country for all types of walkers
  • For those who like organised walks, the Brecon Beacons Park Society provides a comprehensive programme of walks to suit all levels of fitness and ability
  • For those that like to go it alone, the choice is limited only by the number of hours in the day! Maps and equipment are available in the area, either from the Tourist Information Centres, or from a variety of outdoor pursuit shops
  • Angling – The River Usk is the longest river that flows for its entire length within Wales
  • It is renowned for its trout and salmon fishing, and licences are available in Crickhowell
  • Canoeing – There are several organisations offering canoeing or kayaking experiences on the Usk and the Wye – a very natural way to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area

  • Brecon Beacons Activities - for more challenging pursuits have a look at Wales Outdoors - plenty here for the tough guys amongst you! Pony Trekking – for those who love to see the countryside on horseback there are several local stables to choose from, including Llangorse Riding & Rope Centre, just two miles out of Crickhowell
  • Castles – Wales has a wealth of history, and a variety of buildings from all ages which tell us something about the way our ancestors lived
  • CADW, the Welsh conservation body, has many sites across the principality, many of which can be visited all year round
