Kale Pot Cottage is a converted 18th Century barn offering peace and tranquillity – in comfort. It is secluded yet only 100 yards from a tarmac forest drive.
There are neighbours – badgers, foxes and roe deer are regularly seen – owls and woodpeckers heard. Our isolated location means that on a clear night you won’t believe how many stars there are!
Kale Pot Cottage is situated on its own in our three acre paddock, just 10 miles from the bustling market town of Pickering. It is convenient for moors and coast – and only 45 minutes from the historic city of York. Yet on the doorstep is beautiful Newtondale – right in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
The cottage offers ideal facilities for walkers, cyclists and horse riders – with miles of forestry tracks starting from the front door – and the open moor just beyond. For train enthusiasts – we are halfway between Levisham Station and Newtondale Halt on the NY Moors Railway (you can even see the steam trains from the paddock).
But if you just want to soak up the peace and quiet – you need go no further than the barbecue area right outside the front door.
For days out there is a wealth of attractions within easy reach – Historic houses include Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall. Whitby with its Captain Cook connections (and superb fish and chips) is less than half an hour away – and bustling Scarborough (a favourite with kids of all ages) is a few minutes more.
For those seeking a whitewater thrill the Tees course is about an hour away. Closer is Flamingoland with its zoo and boasting some of the biggest rides around. More tranquil attractions include Lavender Farms, Walled Gardens and museums - Eden Camp an ex WW2 prison camp being one of the more unusual. Familiar from TV are Thirsk – home to vet James Herriott and Goathland – the Aidensfield of “Heartbeat”.
Kale Pot Cottage has one double and one twin bedroom (with space for third bed) downstairs – with ensuite bathroom and wetroom. The fully fitted kitchen, lounge and dining area are upstairs - to take full advantage of the views. There is full central heating and a log stove in the lounge, which also has a sofa bed. Outside there is plenty of parking space, cycle store and washing facilities, a private barbecue area, and access to three acres of paddock.
Our prices are all inclusive of towels, linen, electricity, central heating and logs – so no hidden extras.
