Holiday cottage/Self catering

A tranquil character cottage on the edge of Tideswell – perfect for families and a great base to explore the peak district.

Butterfield Cottage, could not be better placed for a self catering holiday for 6 in the Peak District National Park. It lies in the heart of the national park in a quiet spot on the edge of Tideswell, just a 5 minute stroll from shops, pubs and tearooms.  Completely refurbished in 2010, it provides bright and airy accommodation. Stylishly decorated throughout in English country cottage style, with good quality furniture and antiques to create an extremely comfortable and relaxing environment complete with all the modern facilities required for a perfect self catering holiday. It has lovely views across the dale and is not overlooked.

Tideswell's a bustling conservation village with a superb range of local shops, pubs and tearooms, which specialise delicious local produce. St Johns Church is known as The Cathedral of the Peak and is well worth a visit as is the Ebbing and Flowing Well, one of the 7 wonders of the peak district. Bakewell, Buxton  and the Castleton caverns are close by as is Chatsworth House. Alton Towers is a 45 min drive.

Butterfield Cottage is particularly suited to families and groups getting together, and for those who enjoy walking, culture and outdoor pursuits. It is an ideal base for exploring the peak district. Groups of up to 15 guests can be accommodated if booked together with Bluebell Cottage just 5 minutes walk away.

The cosy, beamed sitting room overlooks the front garden and has comfy sofas and a logburner  set into a Derbyshire stone fireplace. It’s fully centrally heated and has a 32 inch widescreen HD LCD TV with HD FREESAT, DVD/CD player and a range of games and books and DVD’s to suit all ages and help you feel at home.

The dining table seats 6 and through patio doors overlooks the sunny walled rear garden area.

The kitchen is well equipped for your needs with a washing machine, dishwasher, hob and oven, microwave, ironing facilities and a fridge with icebox. There is a rotary drier in the garden.

Upstairs the bathroom is bright and airy from the roof skylight. Natural daylight shines on the white bathroom suite comprising a wash basin, WC and bath with shower over. Enjoy an invigorating soothing soak in the bath after a long walk. The bathroom also has a shaver point, and lit mirror. Upstairs, the 3 bedrooms are sympathetically decorated, fusing the convenience of modern living whilst retaining the character of the old and emphasising the peaceful and tranquil nature of the cottage. With no street lights, peer through the windows to view the stars on a clear night and wake to find squirrels playing on the lawn.

There are two double bedrooms and a twin room. The twin room has a bright en-suite shower room overlooking the garden, with hand basin, lighted mirror, shaver point and WC.

Children are very well catered for with a high chair, travel cot and a range of soft toys, games and books. There is also a delightful children’s play area just behind the cottage which can be safely reached across a grassy lane with no road to cross.

The cottage gardens catch the sun all day and the rear garden is secure for dogs. The rear garden is walled and gated and has steps up to a raised patio area with garden furniture and BBQ. The steps have a handrail but may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties. Behind the cottage is a grassy lane leading to the children’s play area, small free car park and a grassed area suitable for dog walking or playing ball. A covered corridor with lockable door leads from the back through to the front garden and this area is suitable for storing bikes. The front garden is fenced and gated and has sun late into the evening. It is a great spot to sit and sip a glass of wine and take in the super views across the dale.

Dogs are most welcome and will enjoy the lovely walks from the door. Car parking is on street outside the cottage or use the free car park just behind the cottage.

The tariff includes central heating, power, initial supplies for the logburner and bed linen and towels. Dogs are most welcome at a cover charge of £25 each.
