The Airlie is in the Newington area of Edinburgh which is on the south side of the City. We are well served with a variety of local shops, restaurants, pubs, banks and post offices. Only a mile from Princess Street on one of the best bus routes in the City the Airlie is ideally placed for exploring Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Our aim is to offer comfortable accommodation at affordable rates which range from £20.00 to £45.00pppn. We have a variety of bedrooms which include single, twin/double/small family en-suite, standard double and large family en-suite. Most of the rooms have their own en-suite shower and toilet and all rooms have their own wash basin, flat screen digital TV, tea / coffee making facilities, adjustable central heating and secondary glazing. We also have a payphone for Guests use. For Guests wishing ot use their laptops while resident with us we have a WiFi hotspot. A computer with broadband internet access is also avaiable for use free of charge. Our large private car park at the rear of the house takes the worry (and potential cost)out of parking while you are resident with us.

  • Holyrood Park is only a 5 minute walk from the Guest House there you can enjoy a walk up Arthur’s Seat - an extinct volcano
  • There are paths which allow you to climb to the top and once at the top you have a spectacular view of the City
  • There is also a road which you can drive up and enjoy the views that way
  • Princes Street is only 1 mile away and offers beautiful gardens and the magnificent Scott Monument on one side
  • and a variety of shops on the other
  • For shopaholics there are more shops in the St
  • James shopping centre and the Princes Mall shopping centre both situated at the East end of Princes Street
  • Before you reach Princes Street you have the High Street or Royal Mile as it is also known
  • Any of the buses passing the Guest House will take you as far as the High Street
  • This street is where the most well known of the historical visitor attractions are located
  • At one end of the High Street you have Edinburgh Castle and at the other end you have The Palace of Holyrood House

  • It is well worth taking a walk down the High Street just to savour the atmosphere
